Cultural Creatives: #CutTheCrap Band RomCom

As part of Muni’s #CutTheCrap #NoMoreButts campaign, we’ve decided to create a special feature on the  illustrators and musicians who volunteered their time and talent to help raise awareness on the impact of cigarette butts on the environment and perform at the Muni #CutTheCrap gig on June 15, 2013 at Route 196. See our other awesome #CutTheCrap collaborators here.

Capturing people’s hearts, RomCom plays music about love and trysts in a far away land. Started out January of last year, the young five-piece ensemble has gained good presence in the music scene, and thus, releasing their first EP – Tight Like A Prom Night, composed of five sound-track ready songs. Find out more about RomCom in an interview with their lead singer, Tin Rementilla.

Muni: Tell us a bit about RomCom.

Tin: We are a bunch of 90s music lovers. We are not very talented but we want to make music so what the hell? Haha! Our biggest dream is for our song to be in a Star Cinema movie. Someday.

Muni: Who are your main influences? How did you find your passion for music?

Tin: We are greatly-influenced by 90s girl-fronted bands like No Doubt, Moonpools, and Caterpillars. We like to think we sound like Weezer but nope!

Muni: What messages do you want to convey through your music?

Tin: That it’s okay to fall in love and get your heart broken into tiny, little pieces. We sing mostly about heartache because we’re emotional people.

Muni: What does “cutting the crap” mean to you?

Tin: Cutting out the useless, harmful, impractical things in life! Stop with the excuses and do something!

Muni: What made you want to be part of the #CutTheCrap gig?

Tin: Because we love Jen very much! Also, it’s an honor to be included in this wonderful line-up!
